This is for a custom made velvet medieval cotehardie with a train. Would be awesome for a bride in a medieval themed wedding. I have shown pictures of this gown as worn by a bride in a themed wedding. Would also be great for any medieval, SCA or LARP historical reenactments.
The cotehardie was probably the first tailored garment in Europe. It was made to fit closely to the body instead of belting the garment for a better fit. By cutting and sewing together it produce a closer fitting garment. This is a very flattering style to wear.
The cut is a 8 gore design. It has a scoop neckline in the front and back. Dress pulls over the head. Sleeves are attached and run almost to the floor in length. The sleeves are lined with a brocade fabric in a matching color. The are 2 small button with a ribbon closure part way down the sleeve. This adds visual interest to the gown and also helps keep the sleeves somewhat closed. Gown is unlined but all inside seams are French seamed.
This dress was made to be worn over another cotehardie or kirtle (under dress) as was the custom of the time period. This sale will be for one(1) custom made cotehardie in velvet as shown. The under sleeves, circlet and veil shown in the pictures are NOT included.
